Nagarhole: 22-24 Feb 08

Nagarhole, a wildlife santuary in Karnataka, India, was where we were on 22nd Feb 08. An outbound learning trip to a resort called Jungle Inn was organised for a group of young, hyper and adventurous people. In the middle of snake charmers, target jumps, zorb balls and trying to deal with the whining nature of people, I managed to seclude myself for a few moments and chase these shots.

PUMA Swimwear launch event
On Sunday, 23 March 08, Salt Water Grill was host to a convoy of swimsuit models. PUMA India formally launched its Swimsuit collection at a cocktail party on this blessed sunny Sunday. Photographers with thier flashguns, teles, wide angle lenses and tripods swarmed the place keeping a constant lookout for beautiful faces and sculpted figures.
I was trying to get a picture myself when someone tapped me on the shoulder and said "Can you step aside please? There are three teles behind you!". Why someone would carry a tele to a swimsuit launch was beyond my comprehension. Why would someone give up the chance of getting close with a wide angle?
Despite being interrupted, shoved and yelled at by tons of photographers, I managed to get in some lucky shots.

A Volleyball match between 2 teams, Easter Bunnies and The Wild Cats on the beach was more than what the media could ask for.

When fire is captured, much to our surprise, on odd occasions, it takes recognisable forms. The three shots below are fire flames. I see the first as a cat, the second as a hand and the third as a seal.

These were shot after the sun went down late in the evening. It was impossible to achieve this at ISO 100 due to the lack of light and the absense of a tripod. I tweaked the settings and shot it at 1600 which gave me enough light to capture what I saw. The only flip side was that the high ISO, produced enough noise to leave me less than satisfied.

The common panning technique was used to achieve the effect shown below. By following the subject with your camera and shooting at 1/10 of a second, the subject appears sharp while the background appears blurry. This is used when you wish to show that objects are moving faster than they actually are. .jpg)

Notice the transition from a black and white image to a colour image. Easily achievable in post processing. It's fun!
